Let's Hit Refresh
Hey Reader! Hope you're Memorial Day Weekend has been a good one! I have important info to share, a thing to give you and, as always, I will deliver everything as concisely as can be.
This weekend, I'm reflecting on how the most successful business owners know when to pivot and especially how we, as a CFO firm, can help position them to do so. It became really clear that knowing your cash flow, at least for the next 13 weeks, is that crucial variable. Without it, you won’t be in a position to pivot (i.e., you won’t be in a position to survive).
Let's get into it all right now. But first, here's a little motivation to get you into the right headspace. Great short video here.👇
as·TER·o·pre·NEUR (noun) A growth-focused founder who starts and operates a profitable business while mastering the key drivers and KPIs.
A Fresh Pair of Eyes: Hit Reset ⭐️
Ever notice how a second pair of eyes spots things you’ve been blind to? Here’s an example: our washing machine broke, and while we were replacing it, we figured we’d paint the laundry room since the machine would be out. Then we thought we should replace the dryer to match. And maybe paint the attached washroom (that’s Midwest for "bathroom"). Though it required more money, we figured we should get it all done while the friction was lower.
As soon as the new machine went in, it hit me... how had I not noticed the rough paint areas that were previously on the wall and the old dryer that was barely hanging on? It’s like my brain was ignoring the obvious since I saw it everyday. The fresh stuff went in and suddenly it was like we had a whole new room.
It got me thinking... how often do we do this in our businesses? We’re so stuck in the routine that we overlook things, whether it’s outdated processes, messy operations, or even cracks in strategy. We get comfortable with existing problems, like not delegating tasks we shouldn’t be doing. A little refresh can make everything feel new again, just like that laundry room makeover.
So, where in your business could a second pair of eyes (or a quick refresh) make a world of difference? It’s amazing what a little update can do.
We talked above about a 13-week cash flow and here is a free gift for you, Asteropreneur readers. Please don't share this link. We have a different page that requires a name and email to get the files, but since you're already reading this, you're good to go! 🧐 There's even a quick video on the page showing you how to use the file.

Slayer? To Reader the Splendid! I just got back from a much-needed break in Cabo with my family. Mexican meals dominated the agenda with ocean activities mixed in. It was the kind of trip where you stop hearing your phone buzz because you stopped checking it. And funny enough, that occasional stillness was exactly what I needed. As we are soon to head into another holiday weekend, I want to remind you of something: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes,...
April Showers Reader, the magnificent! Really hope you took some time off since last month's email. My fam and I took a historical trip to the Midwest (Chi > Springfield > St. Louis) and celebrated my birthday with my larger family in Lake Forest, IL. Great getaway. For this month's email, my recommendation is to stay lean, spend smart and keep your margins strong. You’ll not only survive, you’ll outpace those who don’t. Now let’s talk about how to do exactly that.👇 At the entrance to the...
Things Are Moving Hope your March is moving to plan, Reader! Speaking of moving, if you haven't taken time off recently, do it now. It's not always easy to do as a business owner but it's a good test to confirm that your org chart is working. My wife, our 12 13-year-old son and I are flying from LA, CA to my hometown near Chicago in a couple weeks to visit family. We're then driving to St. Louis (where my dad's side was from) with a brief stop in Springfield, IL to visit the Lincoln Memorial....
